Lesson 3!Rule Based Art..!Enlarge Shapes...!

In this Lesson we enlarge the shapes from lesson to the preferred scale. I enlarged mine 5x.
i chose the shape that i personally felt had the best outcome. The final shape has different shapes in the whole shape and showed the best 3d outcome.

This was my first experiment on the stand. I wasn't impressed with the shape outcome, it didn't look as creative as i hoped.

 I was more pleased with this shape, especially the titled front view.

 

 As i experimented the shapes got more complex and showed progress.

Tara Donovan

Tara Donovan was born in 1969, New York.She is an American artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She is known for site-specific installation art that utilizes everyday materials whose form is in keeping with generative art.

The work of Tara Donovan demands close reading. By using strict rule-based systems, Donovan accumulates individual pieces of material into installations that defy easy identification. Donovan’s process involves selecting one material and finding one unique solution for its construction, whether it’s folding, gluing, stacking, or pressing.

Lesson 2!Rule Based Art..!

This Lesson was to start of with one shape, i started with a circle and when on the 5th rule start again from rule one and developing the shapes.
Added 5 rules
1) Start with a circle.
2) Add a square.
3)Take of a triangle.
4)Add a circle.

5)Add a square.
After drawing the pictures i traced off the shapes and played around to make 3d models.

The more shapes added the more interesting the outcome.

Paper Modelling Session

This session was to learn other ways of pattern cutting in a non traditional way. Using the mannequin instead of blocks that have been produced. I worked in a group of 4 and each of us had different task to do, in order to complete the exercise.

First we folded the paper in half around the manequin and overlaped the paper on the CB and pinned down.

 Then taped upwards no paper untaped, circular shape for the bust. One of hollie's task was to make all the  pins where taken while taping. Two people done the top and worked on the bottom.

 Smooth the tape as we went long.

Small amounts of on the shoulders.

The Deign  Process

After we covered the manequin, we started drawing different lines everyone in the group contributed. We made the front symmetric and back opposite to the front to show contrast.

Then we cut the pieces up!

After we cut we then copied the pieces and just started experimenting with the shapes to create designs :).
